Come to this class to learn how to be a facilitator with Seattle Free School, and to meet and network with other facilitators. This informal meeting covers what Seattle Free School is, tips on teaching, and how to schedule and promote your course.

Crochet Beach Bag
Time: 3:30 PM to 5:30 PM
Location: Ballard Library
Save the environment, one bag at a time. Students will use basic crochet techniques to change plastic grocery bags into beautiful beach bags. Crochet is an easy and very forgiving craft to learn. When you your own fiber out of reusable plastic grocery bags you are not only saving money, but taking something very ordinary and creating a durable beautiful bag that will be the envy of the beach. Join experienced Crocheteer and recyclist for a quick afternoon overview of the process.
Extra credit will be given if you take the time to cut and wind all your plastic yarn before class starts.
Materials:
25-30 plastic grocery bags
Scissors
Size K crochet hook (or whatever you are comfortable with)
Safety pin or stitch marker
Notebook and pencil.

HTML / CSS - An Introduction to Designing for the Web
You know, the web! That thing we use everyday to find answers, buy stuff, check email, and Facebook our buddies. There is a lot of interaction and publishing happening there, but how does it all really work? How does all that code translate to a pretty interface on your screen?
This hands-on class aims to teach you the basics of HTML and CSS -- the two languages of the web that make pretty things happen on your screen. Learn how to author well-structured HTML pages, and layer on a gorgeous coat of CSS paint. Come tackle these skills in a fun, approachable learning environment.
This class is at the Central Branch of the Seattle Public Library. Located at 1000 Fourth Ave., Seattle, WA 98104 the class itself will take place at the small computer lab on Level 4, Room 3 (on the “red floor”).
The class size is limited due to the size of the lab so please register early and let us know if you won\'t be able to make the class so that someone else may take your space.

So was I. Let me share with you my journey from the unknowing, confusion, fad diets, food deprivation, exercise obsession, self doubt, loss of control and surrender to acceptance, understanding, action and self actualization.
Are you interested in starting your own unique journey to wellness?
In our time together we will learn how to identify your unique journey, gather the tools needed for this journey, create an action plan and learn how to design a fitness program that works for you.
Facilitator: Joles Tahara, founder of Walkabout Journeys, has over 35 years of experience struggling to manage weight. Over the course of her valiant weight battles, she has gained and lost over 800 pounds. Joles combines her years of management leadership skills with her personal fitness training background to integrate a whole system approach to optimum wellness.

Getting Your Irish Citizenship
Time: 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM

Do you have a parent or Grandparent who was born in Ireland? Have you heard about getting Irish Citizenship but wonder if you can since your parent or grandparent was born in Northern Ireland? Come to this class and learn more about what is required to get your Irish Citizenship through your parent or grandparent.
As a note, this is not a genealogy class. We can give you hints about finding documentation on your grandparents but we can not help you find the actual information. Further this class will not discuss other ways of getting Irish Citizenship other than through decent. If you do not have a parent or grandparent who was born in Ireland then this class likely will not be able to help you with citizenship. Sorry!

Linux Install Workshop
Time: 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM

Curious about Open Source? Looking for an operating system that will make your older computer run like new? In this workshop you will install Ubuntu Linux along with common applications and learn the basics of using your new system. Ubuntu is a modern, free and easy to use version of the Linux operating system which runs on a variety of computers: Apple or PC, new or old. For more information check out their website:

Please bring a computer (laptop or desktop) on which you want to install. Make sure that you backup any data that you want to keep because we will be deleting everything. If you bring a desktop please plan to arrive a few minutes early so we can get you set up.
